Employee Engagement

Chapter 9 introduces us to the Human Resources Management function. In every organization, we managers are obligated to find and keep talented individuals. Additionally, we must work to make or keep them engaged. The Strategic Human Resources Management Process in chapter 9 describes all of the Human Resources activities necessary to find and keep good people, who will then work hard to achieve the organization's strategies and goals.

Instructions:

For your Intial Post (by Wednesday):

1. Define employee engagement in your own words. You may start with the textbook definition, but then you need to next describe what it means to you.
2. Using your own job (or your most recent one) as an example, think about how your experience has been at the company - from the beginning until now. Tell us how you are either engaged - or could be better engaged.

For your Replies (at least 2, by Saturday):

Reply to at least two other students. Identify what practices from the Strategic Human Resources Management Process from chapter 9, Figure 9.1, are relevant to your fellow students' experience. Note that this can be a practice used well if the person is engaged, or missing if they feel they aren't.

Posts and replies should be complete thoughts, add value, and be written using College English. They should also contain examples and/or reference to the text/lecture where appropriate. Be sure to check back regularly and answer any questions posed to you. See the course syllabus for the quantity requirements and for more details. You won't have access to others' posts until you post in the forum.

AI Use: Not permitted. I expect thoughts and writing to be solely yours. Content and format of a post/reply that resembles AI will result in a zero-pause in grading, and require a meeting with me.
