Overview
This week’s assignment we will continue using the ProjectPlace software and continue using the project that you started for your prior project. Remember, any support you need with logging in or with the software should be done via UniversityPPM
- Log into Projectplace using your school e-mail and the password you created.
- Watch the following videos:
- Review the following instructions:
- Work with Issues and Risks
- Working with Dependencies
- Navigate to your existing project in ProjectPlace
- Click on the Workspaces menu, which should open your workspace. If you are in multiple courses, you may need to click on the Workspaces sub-menu to change which workspace you are in.
- Due to an increase in scope, add two additional deliverables, each lasting one week to the execution phase of your project. Start these two deliverables with the word “New-” so your instructor can easily identify these additions. Add at least two work packages (activities) under each of these deliverables. Get creative if you need to. Assign relationships so they have prior deliverables as predecessors and there are successor deliverables that come after. Set them so they can both occur in parallel. This should extend your project by one week.
- Next, under the Monitor & Control major deliverable, add in at least five (5) deliverables related to Monitoring & Control. Set the dependency of these to start after the start of the first work package in your project. Thus, representing that Monitoring and Controlling starts after the first activity is completed in the project. Next update the duration of these deliverables to be the same as the total duration of your project. This will then show via the Gantt chart that Monitoring and Controlling occurs continuously throughout the project. You do not need to add in any work packages at this time for these deliverables.
- Add four milestones throughout your project. One at the end of each of the major deliverable. Be sure to link them as applicable via dependencies so their placement within the Gantt chart shows properly.
- Next, via the issues tab, create at least five risks that could be applicable to your project.
- Take a screen snip of your WBS, Gantt chart, and Risk Register created. Add these within a word document and submit them to your instructor for grading. Note be sure the WBS/Gantt chart is fully expanded and the duration and start dates are viewable. You may need to take multiple screen shots if needed.
