The purpose of this assignment is to define your personal leadership vision and establish meaningful, actionable goals that align with your values, strengths, and aspirations. By developing a clear vision and identifying leadership goals, you will create a foundation for intentional leadership growth throughout this course and beyond.
Prompt: Develop a 1.5–2 page document that outlines your personal leadership vision and leadership development goals. Organize your assignment using the following sections:
Personal Leadership Vision Statement
Write one concise paragraph describing the leader you aspire to become. Explain the impact you hope to have on others, your organization, or your community, and identify the values, traits, and principles that will guide your leadership. Your vision statement should be clear, inspiring, and serve as a guide for your future leadership decisions and actions.
Leadership Goals
Identify two to three leadership goals you would like to accomplish within the next 6–12 months. For each goal, explain:
- The leadership skill or behavior you want to develop.
- Why achieving this goal is important to your personal leadership vision.
- The specific actions, resources, or timeline you will use to work toward accomplishing the goal.
Reflection
In one to two short paragraphs, reflect on how your leadership vision and goals align with your personal values and leadership style. Then, discuss potential challenges you may encounter while pursuing your goals and explain the strategies you will use to overcome those challenges. Support your reflection with concepts from this week's learning materials. (LO2, LO3)
