Week 3 Written Assignment – Case Study

Introduction

This assignment requires a formal case study that analyzes, evaluates, and summarizes a real-world case study. This is a formal paper that requires APA formatting. This activity requires evidence-based research to support your claims. Refer to How to Write a Case Study.

Activity Instructions

• Read the Sage Business Case:

If you are having issues opening this use the UMU Library and go through the A-Z Database list from our library homepage. Choose “S” and go to Sage Business Cases, you will be able to put the title in and find the full article.https://dx.doi.org/10.4135/9781529770698

• This case examines the public relations and communications strategy of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, which is expected to launch a Covid-19 vaccine after announcing successful trials in the fall of 2020.

• Answer these questions:

o What does it mean for a company to distance itself from the same administration that they’re working with? Do you think this was the right strategy for Pfizer?

o Does Pfizer’s strategy read as sincere or disingenuous considering the company still collaborated with the administration to secure a U.S. market for distribution?

o What’s the relationship between Pfizer’s messaging and its stock prices? Do you think the communications have more to do with Pfizer wanting to distance itself from politics, or with making sure its potential vaccine rollout is as financially lucrative as possible?

Tips for Success

This activity requires scholarly based research using peer-reviewed (refereed or scholarly) journal articles. These articles are written by experts and are reviewed by several other experts in the field before the article is published in the journal in order to ensure the article’s quality (scientific validity, having reached reasonable conclusions, etc.) Wikipedia is not a peer-reviewed source and is not to be used as a reference source.

In a well-constructed essay, include the following elements:

• Utilize the Library/Scholarly resources to support your claims and ideas.

• Be sure to analyze not just restate what you have learned.

• Include proper grammar and formal paper writing standards including an introduction, with strong thesis statement and brief conclusion to close the loop.

• Articulate the connection between this learning experience and the content noted within the assigned material for this week of class.
