Overview
The purpose of this Analysis Paper is to demonstrate mastery of two Unit 5 objectives: 1) Create strategies for attracting and connecting with diverse stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and beneficiaries; and 2) Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies using analytical tools.Conduct a digital strategy audit (through a written paper) on the nonprofit you have selected in Unit 1. The digital strategy audit will include two major sections—Google Key Word Search and Social Media Audit. To conduct the Google search, input relevant keywords such as "helping the homeless in DC" or "serving the homeless in DC" to observe which nonprofit organizations appear prominently in the search results. Craft a summary paragraph addressing the following inquiries:
Top-ranking Nonprofits: Highlight the nonprofit organizations that emerged at the top of the search results. Identify any patterns or commonalities among these organizations in terms of visibility and positioning.
Presence of the Studied Nonprofit: Determine the visibility of the nonprofit under study within the search results. Note whether it appears prominently, is buried in the search pages, or is absent altogether.
- Accessibility for Donors/Volunteers: Assess the likelihood of a potential donor or volunteer discovering the nonprofit through the search results. Consider factors such as search ranking, website quality, and relevance of content in facilitating discovery and engagement.
Keyword Performance Improvement Recommendations: Offer suggestions for enhancing the nonprofit's performance in search engine results related to the chosen keywords. Recommend strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO) tactics, content optimization, and website enhancements to improve visibility and attract more traffic from relevant searches.
- To begin your social media audit, navigate to your nonprofit's profiles on TikTok, Instagram, Meta (Facebook), X (formerly Twitter), and Snapchat. For each platform, craft a paragraph summarizing your findings based on the criteria outlined below. Incorporate insights from the Stiffman (2017) and Tobias (2021) articles located in your learning resources, especially for recommendations (instruction # 5 below).
Activity Level: Assess the frequency and consistency of your nonprofit's postings across all platforms. Note the number of posts per week or month and any patterns in timing or content variety. Evaluate if the nonprofit maintains an active presence on each channel or if there are disparities in activity levels.
- Content Analysis: Examine the types of information communicated across the platforms. Summarize the presence of success stories, calls for volunteers, and donation appeals. Analyze the effectiveness of these messages in engaging the audience and driving desired actions, referencing insights from Stiffman (2017) and Tobias (2021).
Engagement Metrics: Review the level of engagement (likes, shares, comments) garnered by each post. Determine if the nonprofit is actively monitoring social media feedback and responding to audience interactions. Evaluate the quality of engagement, considering factors such as sentiment and depth of interaction.
- Top Performing Post: Identify the most active post in terms of likes or shares across all platforms. Analyze the content, messaging, and context surrounding this post to understand why it resonated with the audience. Consider elements such as storytelling, visual appeal, or timeliness that may have contributed to its popularity.
Engagement Enhancement Recommendations: Based on your observations, provide recommendations for improving engagement across social media platforms. Suggest strategies for content diversification, audience targeting, or community engagement initiatives that align with the nonprofit's goals and mission.
- Amplification Focus: If you were to prioritize one service provided by the nonprofit for social media promotion, identify the service that would benefit most from increased visibility and support. Justify your choice based on its relevance to the community's needs, potential for impact, and alignment with the organization's objectives.
- Create a double-spaced Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document.
