Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to develop an online survey that is designed to capture critical information on the target customer/client for your chosen Lakeland department/service (what you used for the SWOT). Assume that the data gained from the survey will be used to develop/design a new product (good or service) for the department/service at Lakeland.
Your goal is to better understand the needs, wants, expectations, impressions, experiences, etc. of the target customer/client. Follow the below steps to complete this assignment.
- Write
- 2 unstructured/open-ended questions (can't be answered with a yes or no, etc.)
- 5 structured/closed-ended questions that include scales of at least 4 answer options (this means yes and no questions can't be used)
- 3 demographic questions that obtain demographic information on the customer/client that include answer options
- This article gives great tips about writing survey questions
- Create a Survey Monkey Account, which will allow you to develop surveys for free with 10 or fewer questions.
- Review this information on how to create a survey on Survey Monkey. Also I have recorded a video that shows you how to create a survey using Survey Monkey.
- Build your 10 questions into a Survey Monkey online survey (Do not use a Survey Monkey Template)
- Please note that Survey Monkey allows you to do FREE surveys for 10 or fewer questions, but it can get finicky with certain types of questions. Therefore, if it states that you need to pay, there should be a column on the left side of the screen with a section labeled “Paid features” where you can see what you need to change. You may need to scroll down on the column to find the section.
- Question types that will be free include multiple choice, check boxes, and single text box questions. DO NOT USE comment boxes, rankings, rating, best/worst etc. as it will ask you to pay.
- Create a Word or PDF assignment submission with the following format:
- List a summary of the target customer for the survey - be detailed (discuss classifications/demographics that could apply, such as age, gender, income, race, benefits sought, and geographic area). This info is only for me...it isn't info that your target customer would see. I want to ensure you know who you want to get info from.
- Write a summary that discusses why you asked the questions that you did...how will the answers to the questions help you further understand the customer? Address all questions. This info is only for me...it isn't info that your target customer would see. I want to see your rationale as to why you are asking questions...Don't just ask to ask. Ask a question because you plan on doing something with the answer... Make a business decision, etc.
- List the URL - Website Address for the survey - This is found under the Collect Responses Tab - Your URL should look something like this - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8FJ3DXT
- Please note that you will not be sending this survey to anyone besides me:)
You will be graded on:
- Professional, appropriate, and well-thought-out/worded questions (questions have a purpose) – see page 243 in the text
- Proper grammar and spelling
- Identification and understanding of appropriate target customer
