Week 2 Assignment 3 – Research Paper
Introduction
This assignment anticipates an application and analysis of the leadership styles and behaviors you have researched in the as first two weeks of your course.
Activity Instructions
For this assignment, address the following:
• Define Complex Human Behavior supported by scholarly research
• Identify and explain if the specific behaviors of leadership theories can change and why or why not
• Compare and contrast how power and politics can influence leadership
• Summarize with a model of an effective leader and which theory/model it follows
ALL formal papers for this class REQUIRE headers in proper APA format. For this assignment your headers should include (but are not limited to):
• Complex Human Behavior and Leadership
• Traits and Behaviors
• Power and Politics in Leadership
• The Effective Leader
This assignment must be written in a formal, APA 6th Edition format. This includes summary form, 3rd person only and must include references. The main focus needs to be answering the questions with well-reasoned, insightful analysis. A simple recitation of what is in the research,or the text is not adequate. Feel free to make comparisons to organizations and specific leaders.
Writing Requirements (APA format)
• 3-4 pages (approx. 300 words per page), not including title page or references page
• 1-inch margins
• Double spaced
• 12-point Times New Roman font
• Headers
• Title page with topic and name of student
• References page (minimum of 5 resources)
Tips for Success
This activity requires scholarly based research using peer-reviewed (refereed or scholarly) journal articles. These articles are written by experts and are reviewed by several other experts in the field before the article is published in the journal in order to ensure the article’s quality (scientific validity, having reached reasonable conclusions, etc.) Wikipedia is not a peer-reviewed source and is not to be used as a reference source.
In a well-constructed essay, include the following elements:
• Utilize the Library/Scholarly resources to support your claims and ideas.
• Be sure to analyze not just restate what you have learned.
• Include proper grammar and formal paper writing standards including an introduction, with strong thesis statement and brief conclusion to close the loop.
• Articulate the connection between this learning experience and the content noted within the assigned material for this week of class.

This activity will be graded based on academic content, integration of resources, and college-level writing and grammar.
