Item 2. Analyze the decision of Walmart to develop and release virtual training appDownload and install the app “Spark City” from Google Play or Apple iTunes. This app is intended to expose you to part of the working environment of a retailer. This training app is meant for Walmart staff, but it also lets you familiarize yourself with some real-world retailer business decisions from a staff perspective.- Work for the first week (i.e., five days in the app time) and report your three KPIs: OSCA, CFF, and Sales at the end of the week.
- This is learning-by-doing. If you do not understand some of the tasks, that’s fine. The manager will give you feedback (as in the real world).
- After the first week of work, briefly (two paragraphs at most) provide your analysis of Walmart’s possible intent behind the creation of this app back in 2019. For example, you can argue that the motive behind its creation was reducing costs.
- It is important to note that there is no definitive correct answer. We are not going to grade you based on your KPIs. The aim of this exercise is to encourage you to understand retailers’ behaviors.
- Format: Two paragraphs, 12-point Times New Roman font, single spacing.
