Overview
Introduction
As current and future managers, you play a crucial role in shaping your organization's human capital. In this forum, we will explore the link between organizational strategy and HR strategies and metrics, to tackle emerging challenges.
A strategy statement is a summary of a company or organization's strategy. This should serve as a basis for making strategic decisions for the future in all areas of the enterprise including HR. The Collins and Rukstad (2008) reading for this week "Can you say what your strategy is?" outlines the basic elements of a strategy statement.
Instructor Prompt for Initial Posting a) After reading the above-mentioned article, craft a strategy statement for your current organization (or one of your choosing) using 35 words or less. b) To what degree is there alignment between your organization's current strategy and the HRM metrics that it uses (if any)? • If there is misalignment between your organization’s current strategy and its HRM metrics (or a lack of metrics), propose specific metrics and/or strategies that can be implemented to address the misalignment. • In proposing metrics/strategies consider the following: From a manager's perspective, what are the biggest HR issues you anticipate facing in the coming years? What are the top HR concerns impacting your industry or the broader business world? (10 points)
