Overview
Your Community Roundtable is receiving public pushback regarding the community policing plan. The local community feels like the roundtable members do not reflect the community they serve and that the plan does not realistically address the underlying issues leading to tension between groups in the community and the police force. Specifically, the community wishes to see a Citizen Advisory Committee included as a key element of the plan. The Citizen Advisory Committee should have at least five members and have rotating membership with members serving at least two-year terms.
It will be required for your group to add The Citizen Advisory Committee as an additional section (e.g., Section Five: Citizen Advisory Committee) of the original Excelsior City Community Policing Strategic Plan. You will want to consider how public managers and leaders effectively collaborate with the public. For this assignment, you will be working again with your original roundtable group.
Strategies for success:
- Each student in the group should have their required portion draft completed by Thursday night.
- The group should combine and review the compiled final draft document by Saturday. Each roundtable member needs to post any changes or that they approve the document as is and are comfortable representing it to the community.
- Like your original plan submission, make sure that someone is designated to polish up the document. This member will ideally be someone who likes to work toward the end of the module. They should download the document from the collaborations space and then clean it up (spell, grammar check, address any tracked changes, remove any comment bubbles or differing font colors, etc.).
- One member of the group should submit the final version of the Citizen Advisory Committee section below.
Submission Instructions
Develop a two- to three-page plan to address community concerns. Use the same format for this addition as your group used for the initial plan. Use the most current APA edition for writing your assignment. Support your paper with two to three additional resources to support your approach to the Citizen Advisory Committee
