Summary of my interview with someone who's in social media marketing.

Overview

Interview Deliverable & Formatting

The final deliverable for the SME assignment is fairly straightforward. It will consist of a two page Word document submitted to the appropriate area on Canvas. On the first page, students will exposit a summary and analysis of the interview. The deliverable should not consist of a rote explication of your questions and answers. Instead, the written summary should contain highlights and insights according to what you found through Q&A as you spoke to the social media marketing person: In one page, what is the "upshot" of lessons learned from them? The head matter of the document, on first page and taking up no more than two lines at the top, should include the full name and title of the interviewee, along with the date, time, and location of the interview(ee). Formatting parameters for this first page are: single-spaced, 1* margin summary and 12-point Times New Roman font. From a formatting perspective, to avoid grade penalty, the summary is strictly limited to the first page, and only one page, and you must structure your written work as proper paragraphs. On the second page, there should be nothing but a direct link to the bio/contact page of the employee on their company website or their Linkedin profile.

Failing to format the deliverable correctly will result in a maximum grade of 60/100 pointsWhat company did you work for?

What position did you withhold during your time of working in social media marketing? (whether currently working or previously worked).

What does a "day-to-day" look like in your role? (on average)

What are the key responsibilities of your role?

What is your history with social media marketing?

What soft skills would you say are crucial to have if you're working in digital marketing?

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in digital marketing/social media?

These are the questions I asked.

The social media marketer name is Celeste Pierre-Louis. She's a social media specialist for the company Husqvarna. She handles community management. She manages their Facebook, instagram, and Linkedin accounts. Her day-to-day work is kind of like responding to comments, messaging people who has problems with the company online and tries to solve them. She also tracks inside engagement. Her responsibilities are being creative, problem solving, should be able to go with the metrics. She creates powerpoint of how her company is performing vs. competitors doing a competitor analysis. She went to western Carolina, was the social media chair for her sorority and all the other greek organizations while she was there. She did internships at ESPN, public relation posts then became a social media specialist. She also worked at amazon Human Resources. Skills that are crucial to being a digital marketer is being an active listener, being creative, being able to find the target audience and data, communication, and empathy to deal with mad customers. Advice she gave me if I decided to work in digital marketing is stay on top of trends, follow newsletters, go to networking events/ get to know people, build a good portfolio.
