Overview

Trade Show - Attend a Real/Live Trade show and summarize how good companies are engaging at trade shows.

Pick a local Vancouver area trade show - business or consumer, business is preferred. (There may be a nominal fee to enter, don't forget to ask for student discounts).

Attend the trade show and spend a minimum of 1.5 hrs. in the exhibitor area. While observing,

notice which exhibitors are engaging the audience well. (avoid popular brands that might just naturally draw people). Who is working the floor hard?

Ask for an interview with one of the staff members of an engaging exhibitor.

Interview a member of the team of the engaging exhibitor and gain insights into their approach

and “best practices”

Take notes and then do some secondary research on "exhibitor best practices"

Develop a 2-4 page summary, APA format, with a minimum of 6 references plus an appendix.

Your summary should cover:

o key highlights of what you observed

o comparing the exhibitor's approach to your research of best practices

o summarize 3 key best practices you could use the next time you are asked to be an exhibitor

Grading Rubrics: Summary to include: (max 2-4 pages) 10

Trade Show attended (within course timeframe)

Demonstration of engagement with exhibitors (pictures etc.)

Quick summary about the event and exhibitors areas (100 words)

Exhibitor details, you felt did the best engaging the audience. Include Why? and How? 20

Highlights of your interview with your selected exhibitor and their tips (add notes to the appendix) 20

Secondary research on exhibitor best practices 10

Your 3 key best practices based on your exhibitor experience and research 30

APA formatting with a minimum of 6 references 10

Total 100
