DISCUSSION PROMPT
This assignment allows students to take the concept of environmental scanning and actually apply it in a real-world context. Environmental scanning is an important element of developing a comprehensive and effective business strategy. This assignment will give students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and describe the process further connecting the dots.

Following Maree’s (2009) Parts 1-2-3. Write a DISCUSSION POST that could ALSO be shared on LinkedIn that explains the following: o Part 1- Explain what needs to be done to set up an environmental scanning process – what scanning is, what it aims to achieve, where it fits in the strategy development cycle, understanding worldviews and steps for getting started. o Part 2- Explain the scanning process, where to look for trends and how to assess their usefulness – what to look for, where to look, knowing when a scanning hit is useful, recording your hits and the challenges you might face. o Part 3 Explain how to classify and assess your trends and reporting the output of the scanning process – interpreting trends, reporting your findings and maintaining your scanning over time.
