Overview
This assignment is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the brand story and social media content strategy for a selected brand of your choice.
You need to submit a creative slide deck summarizing your analysis and findings (maximum of 15 slides, not including Title and Reference slides). Imagine you work for a social media content agency and you are sending this deck to the CMO of the company you selected. The slide deck needs to be a standalone piece; in other words, someone could read through it and fully understand your analysis without further explanation.
In the attached there are 2 examples as well as the feedback form I'll use to grade.
Title Slide
Slide 1-3: The Brand Story, Values, and Solutions
- Summarize the brand’s background
- Highlight its signature stories or macro-level brand myths
- Think critically about the brand’s storytelling arc – the characters, conflict, and conclusions
- Identify the problem(s) the brand solves (e.g., the story solution/resolution)
Slides 4-7: The Brand’s Social Media Channels
- Highlight what the brand’s social media channels are and how they are uniquely used to execute tactical stories
- Use screenshots and examples of content to support your claims
Slides 9-10: Target Market and Customer Perceptions
- Provide a brief description of the target market
- Summarize the current perceptions of the brand’s target market
- Use support from your own research (e.g., reviews, ask friends)
Slides 11-13: Storytelling Analysis across Platforms
- Identify three strengths and three weaknesses of how the brand uses transmedia brand storytelling across social media platforms
- Comment on the brand’s consistency (or lack of consistency) in relation to its macro-level brand story
- Use examples (e.g., screenshots) as needed
Slide 14-15: Future Opportunities
- Develop two actionable ways the brand could improve its social media-based brand storytelling
- (Optional) Create mock-up social media content to support your ideas
Reference Slide
- Throughout the slide deck, use references, such as the readings and videos from class and other articles, to support your claims.
- You can use any citation style you’d like – just choose one and stick with it. Here’s a quick way to create references: https://www.citationmachine.net/; Footnotes are fine too.
Helpful Hints
Keep it short and simple. You can use bullet points where appropriate and summarize in short paragraphs.

Your slides need to be thoughtfully designed. Some websites I like to use for creative things are:
- Canva and BeFunky (for premade free editable graphics including slide decks)
- FlatIcon, IconsDB, and The Noun Project (for icons)
- Pixabay and Unsplash (for royalty-free pictures)
- DaFont and Font Squirrel (for downloadable fonts)
- FreePik and SlidesGo (for many free PowerPoint and creative templates)
- GraphicRiver and CreativeMarket (for relatively inexpensive downloadable templates -- like editable PowerPoint templates and CV templates)
