  • Recommend one specific way the brand can adapt its storytelling to stay relevant.

Focus on strategic thinking, not predicting the next viral platform.

When thinking back on Jacquemus when doing my brand audit, there are a couple things that would aid the brand in shifting the approach of storytelling through social media. The majority of Gen-Z consumers who purchase luxury goods are slowly shying away from brands that seek exposure and attention through viral campaigns and posts, instead opting for brands that engage and cultivate a connection with the young audience. Gen Z consumers seek to be an integral part of the creative process, whether that be through personalization or the notion that these brands and in this case, Simon Jacquemus, may have in including its audience in the development of its products. If I were to offer any advice to Jacquemus, it would have to adopt in a transparent narrative approach to storytelling. Jacquemus can embrace this approach by illustrating the creative process of a leather good or piece of clothing from start to finish in efforts to deepen resonance with its consumers. Additionally, the brand can show pieces that were never finished in order to spark conversation or gain insight from its consumers on the viability of a products place in a collection and strategically continue to gain insight through engagement with these social media posts. For a premium luxury brand like Jacquemus, thisapproach would allow for a fresh and intimate narrative that does not place the brand in attempting to be “trendy,” but instead introduce a sense of intimacy and authenticity through differentiating itself in the already oversaturated luxury fashion market. The brand can see great results in adopting this transparent narrative or “process-led” storytelling approach, simply bybeing authentic and human in the ever-evolving social media landscape.
