Write a rough draft of your term paper
The paper should cover a range of history, people and ideas.
For example, you can't just write a paper on Isaac Newton, but rather if you choose to focus on Newton, the impact of his ideas on others, both while he lived and after would be expected to be included. As well, there would be an expectation of including influences that led to certain things you discuss about Newton's work.
A thesis is an argument. The paper is not a book report. Think about it like a research project that could be published in an "Undergraduate History of Mathematics Explorations Journal."
Your research should lead your toward ideas, deeper thoughts, and connections. You don't have to make ground breaking discoveries, but it is expected you put together information in a novel and detail oriented way.
