  1. Some effective strategies Dr. Chew mentions to help improve note-taking and studying leading up to the midterm, I already use the deep processing method and minimizing distractions to get maximum focus. One other effective strategy that I can implement is practice retrieval and application.
  2. I do tend to lose memory of isolated facts and my learning style could use better improvement. When I'm highlighting during note taking, I tend to highlight prior to what information will be given during the video lectures so it will set me back from intaking the information the first time around because I am already subconsciously thinking about what I've highlighted and am anticipating the information leading up rather than focusing on taking in all the information at the same pace in the video lectures. (which causes the memory of isolated facts) As for my learning style, the highlighting process and intaking information at a more normal pace is something I will be implementing into my note-taking and studying for the midterm.
  3. During the time of studying for the midterm and when I'm watching the video lectures is when I will be implementing said effective strategies. The effective strategies I will use during note-taking is to generate questions that I can ask either a tutor or Professor Viehweg later on or if I can I will answer them myself by also practicing recalling information without referring to my notes. It will be good practice to test my own knowledge based off what I have learned from each Chapter and that will also help me study well for the midterm. Even during homework assignments, I can also implement these effective strategies to help me retain the information on a deeper understanding, hence practicing using the information in a way the teacher expects.
