Strategic Study Plan for Midterm Success
To prepare effectively for my mid-term, I will follow a well-laid-down schedule structured personally to meet my study needs. Structuring this schedule will enable me to stay focused on the activities I have set to do throughout the days of the week. My main studying tools will be the class textbook, videos, lectures, and quizzes, which will help me succeed in the mid-term exam. I will also incorporate insights from Doctor Stephen Chew, who stresses the need for practical and hands-on learning methods, not superficial ones.
Through my schedule, I have ensured that I set aside morning hours from 5 am to 7 am to study math only. This is key as it will help me grasp better concepts and do a lot of quizzes, which will help my applicability in any scenario, be it exams or just regular class quizzes. The reason for choosing such a time to do only math subjects is that when waking up, the mind is usually fresh, and learning math concepts at that time will be a key and a more significant step towards my success. Through the strategy by Dr. Chew on concept mapping, I will review the notes on the specific chapter and, in the end, have 10 questions that I have created to gauge my memory of the concepts I have learned (Samford University, 2011). This will be crucial since I will schedule time to work through math issues and have my peers and the lecturer review them. This significant step will be essential to helping me identify my areas of strength and weakness so that I can better myself.
Throughout the day, I will have time to do other things such as homework, work, and reading notes on different classes. One thing that I will ensure that I eliminate is the habit of just reading passively. Instead, I will use the principle of overlearning and write short key points for each chapter to understand and grasp them better (Samford University, 2011). The final evening of the day will be trying to solve sample problems and gagging myself with exercises at the end of each chapter I revise. I will also use this time to watch math videos while taking key notes and having a more profound processing ability to understand each piece of information. With such strategies, I am sure that I will be able to perform better in my mid-term exams and get a better grasp of the materials.
