Nursing Schedule Analysis

This is an exercise to practice some math skills, work on time management, and prepare you for the schedule commitment that will be required in the Core Nursing courses.

Instructions

The assignment is to create a mock future schedule that reflects what your schedule may be like when you begin your course courses in Nursing. You do NOT use your current schedule; you will be following the schedule provided below.

Students will be given a schedule of the upcoming Core Nursing classes. A sample full schedule is provided (all the core courses and semesters); however, for this assignment, you will ONLY use the first page or chart. For Nursing, this is where Concepts 1 is listed.

  • Read through the schedule for the first semester of Core classes and create a calendar-style data chart that shows the hours spent each day in each class using the attached template.
  • Add in your personal responsibilities to the chart per day (work, childcare, commute, sleep).
  • Then distribute the estimated number of hours appropriately for study for each class (1-hour study per hour of lecture seat time minimum) into your week.
  • Calculate the total number of class hours, total number of homework hours, and percentage of all school work hours out of your hours awake.

Please note that the schedule provided is only valid for the semester it was created; days for on-site work change every semester. Therefore, you CAN NOT look at this and say, "my first Core semester, I will have clinical on _____" because this changes for every semester and for every Core class.
