Read the following excerpt from the NCTM book Taking Action
Taking Action Chapter 9 Productive Struggle: How to respond to student struggles
1. Solve the task on page 220. Create a visual of your solution and submit your solution along with two anticipated student solutions, one correct and one incorrect (10 points)
2. Complete Activity 9.2 and for each vignette, state what the students' struggle is, what the teacher did to help the student move past the struggle and if what the teacher did supported the student's understanding of the task. (10 points)
3. Go through each of the teacher responses on page 226 (Telling, Directed Guidance, Probing Guidance, Affordance) and assign each of those on to one of the scenarios (note one scenario will not have a response) (5 points)
4. After going through, read the responses reflect on your responses compared to the authors' responses, and include what you learned from this activity. (5 points)
