Overview
Here's the assignment:Your prompt is a deeper dive into the original baseline question: Do you have any logical contradictions in your religious beliefs? Where? Do you see a possible resolution? How do you feel about all this? As usual, our discussions and readings should have facilitated some reflection on your paper, and this essay should reflect that, in no more than two properly formatted pages. However, this topic is significantly more challenging for atheists and agnostics than for religious/spiritual people. If you feel you have little to say on this prompt, you still deserve the opportunity to show your philosophical development, so consider the following questions:
- Has your thinking about religion developed philosophically throughout the course of our readings and discussions on the topic?
- Does the religion you were raised with contain any contradictions?
- Did you start this class with any doubts about religion, and have you resolved those doubts?
- On the flip side, did you start this class with anything you were sure about about religion but now you have doubts about?
- If you choose one of these, the goal is the same as the rest of the development essays: to show some degree of intellectual or philosophical development from where you started to where you are now. If none of these speak to you, you can also email me so we can find another topic to write on.
