Let me share some of my notesLANGUAGE (important topic today)Languages die when people who speak those languages die. our generations have never witnessed the creation of a language, however, language never stops evolving. there are many ancestors of english and spanish. the same language that we call “Italian” was called latin, but now it is not. many languages EVOLVED from each other, like from Portuguese or other romance languages like french and Italian. they all have the same “grandmother” ancestor called “latin”.no one knows who created words because words evolve from use. when words are no longer useful, they are discarded. it doesn’t need an academy to correct words. an academy is only there to help comprehend each other. we are creative. our human race created over 7,000 languages. we can create any language we want. we are creative and languages are complex. we can study how a child learns a language. it is also phenomenal how, for example, a two year old can communicate their language by reproducing sounds and imitating other people. how does a child learn to grammatically speak words? how does a child learn the order of words? the process is slow, but it shows the capacity of the human mind to learn a language. we have the capacity to learn how to formulate our sentences in a grammatically correct order. -watch the film “the Wild Child” from the 1970syou must be exposed to a language from birth as that is the critical period to learn a language. not that it is impossible to learn a language later on, but if you learned the language as a child, you are much more likely to have learned it fluently.
