Overview
This is your opportunity to craft a philosophical argument on a topic of your choice in philosophy of technology! Pick any topic, either that we've discussed in our course or which otherwise interests you, take a position on that topic, and argue in favor of your position. You should engage with texts that agree or disagree with your view, from our syllabus and/or from your own research. Whether you agree or disagree, show why your position and arguments are better than others'. You should meet with Max to discuss your paper idea.
Here are some possible topics (though you should also feel free to do something completely different):
Should [technology of your choice] play a bigger/smaller role in our lives than it currently does? How, and why?
Can [technology of your choice] be used responsibly? Must it be changed in order to do so? Considers its pros and cons.
- Is technological "progress" valuable? What kinds of technology should be (de)prioritized?
