Overview
The goal of philosophy and theology is to apply their concepts to situations in everyday life, not simply discuss a series of abstract principles. For the final, you will be expected to analyze a current issue using a concept from a philosophy text, as well as a concept from a theology text. A current issue is one which must have taken place over the last two years. So, it could include the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, the war in Ukraine, the impending Supreme Court decision on abortion, or something else which has recently been in the news. One philosophical and one theological text must be compared and contrasted with each other. They should answer the following questions:
1) What are the core values and/or principles the theologian and the philosopher would use to analyze this issue?
2) What position would the philosopher and theologian take on this issue?
3) On what points would they agree? On what points would they disagree?
4) What is your position on the issue? Why do you hold this view?
P.S.: Use "Being and Doing" for the theological part and "Holding One Another" for the philosophical part.
