Overview
When studying ethics, it's important to consider the underlying assumptions and logic that lead to public opinion on current events, policies, and other matters affecting everyday life. Select a recent opinion piece from either The Guardian or NPR on a topic of your choice and address the following:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jul... For your initial post, share a link to your editorial so that your peers and instructor have access to it. Then, answer the following questions:
- What is the argument of the opinion?
- What resources are referenced to support the argument?
- What are the underlying ethical principles or assumptions in the opinion?
- Are there examples of ethical egoism, relativism, or utilitarianism?
- Would any of the ethical theories discussed in this unit support a better argument or even a counterargument to the author's position? Explain.
