Overview
- You are a physician treating a terminally ill woman who is in a great deal of pain that no drugs can relieve. She has no known relatives. The AMA’s code of ethics absolutely forbids euthanasia, and the hospital has a similar policy. BUT you want to alleviate her agony and give her a chance to die with dignity.
- What would a virtue ethicist suggest, and why?
- What would a Kantian suggest, and why?
