Overview

Write a 1000 word argument applying the theory of your choosing to the ethical problem of your choosing. For additional advice, please see the link below.

Successful papers will include/avoid the following:

A clearly stated introduction and thesis, including what the topic is, why it is relevant, and what position you will argue for and why.

Identify, develop and apply 2-3 main premises that support your argument using the characteristics of the theory that you have chosen.

Identify and develop the best argument against your position and explain why it is not sufficient for rejecting your position. Do not straw person your opponents.

Work closely with the text. Use citations. There is no bibliography required unless using outside sources. Be very cautious with using outside sources. If you feel that you must, keep them as limited as possible. Avoid using long direct quotes, instead focus upon paraphrasing the material. Paraphrases require citation.

Avoid using any sort of anecdotal comparisons or referring to personal experience.

Stay focused. If your writing is wandering away from the topic, so are your readers' thoughts. I highly recommend getting your paper proofread. CPCC has a department that offers writing assistance.

Keep your conclusion concise. If you feel that your conclusion is getting too long, it is probably because you are using information that should be located somewhere else in the paper.

TEXTBOOK: Shafer-Landau, Living Ethics, available on Brytewave

Paper needs to be about virtue ethics which I have attached my views on it.
