Overview
You are required to, in 1 to 2 paragraphs (or a little more, whatevs), highlight an observation that de Tocqueville makes about 1800's America. We will present these observations in class. You must provide quotation(s) related to that observation. Be sure to explain the quotation as best you can. THEN evaluate to what extent you hold the observation of de Tocqueville's to be accurate in today's world (and explain why). Positions you may take include (but are not limited to): Totally true still / Never true, even in the past / kinda sorta true, depends.../ I don't know because... / Difficult to evaluate because... / Was true, isn't anymore / Was not true then, is now / etc.
