Philosophy Question

Overview

1. I need you to write me a length 500-650 words essay do not exceed 2. answer one of the following prompt in essay form ( i listed two pick whichever one you like the most :) prompt 1: "Assuming that Princess Elizabeth’s objection to interactionist substance dualism is successful, should we give up on interactionism, or should we give up on substance dualism? "Note: You are being asked to take a position in this prompt, not merely to outline or explain a position or option. To answer this prompt well, you will need to do more than simply say which option you think we should take (whether you think we should give up on interactionism or substance dualism). The main task of the paper is to defend, or support, your answer with reasons. To write a successful paper on this topic, you will need to say what Princess Elizabeth’s objection is and what interactionism and substance dualism are. prompt 2:" Logical behaviorism can be understood as a view that provides a solution to a problem concerning the meaningfulness of mental discourse. Clearly outline that problem, and explain how logical behaviorism provides a solution." Note: o This prompt is more exegetical than argumentative. You are being asked to clearly outline and explain a problem, rather than to take a stance on it. o To write a good paper in response to this prompt, you will need to clearly state and explain what logical behaviorism is, explain the problem about the meaningfulness of mental discourse that motivates it, and explain how logical behaviorism provides a solution to that problem. There are different ways to explain the problem about the meaningfulness of mental discourse that motivates logical behaviorism. You might use Wittgenstein’s ‘beetle in the box’ thought experiment, or you might explain the problem by talking in more general terms about why one might think that mental discourse cannot be meaningful. It is probably better to pick one way to explain the problem and be clear about it, than to list every way we have discussed." - general advice from professor not from me i promise:• Focus in your paper on being clear, direct and accurate. 500-650 words is relatively little space so don’t waste it on irrelevant information or background information. • Express your points as simply as you can: no flowery language or additional descriptive language just for the sake of it. • Write an outline for your paper before you write it: think about which points you need to include, and in which order, in order to answer the prompt. Stick to your outline when writing the paper. • Read your work aloud to yourself and think about whether you have expressed what you intended to say accurately and clearly. Remember that writing is an act of communication: if someone else cannot understand what you have in mind, you haven’t achieved your goal, even if you know what you meant. We will grade what is on the page—not what we think you have in mind…
