our assignment is to explain the difference between pure patternism and modified patternism, with respect to the problem of personal identity and the reduplication problem. You should, however, make specific reference to the text. "Specific" means actual citations with page numbers.
Keep in mind that your essay will be judged on clarity, accuracy, and completeness. "Clarity" means that your essay should explain things so that a person not in the course could understand it. That's the standard I will apply when grading it.
Use paragraph breaks. The essay should be 700 words and should be pasted into the text box so that it can be scored by turnitin.com, which also now incorporates AI-detection tools. Do not upload and attach a file, since that bypasses turnitin.com. If I even suspect that you didn't write the essay, you will be required to have a conference with me, in which I will question you in detail on the subject matter--basically an oral exam--and you will be graded on that instead.
