Intro to Philosophical Inquiry (PHIL-102-OL-17126)

Overview

**************

-First Discussion Board post: choose something from the internet (blog post, social media post, short video, etc.) that inspires you to think about your psyche and/or world in a different way.

-A): state how this internet content made you feel (using emotion-words, like “loved,” “hated,” “weirded out,” “exciting,” like you might use in a venting session).

-B): ask a heartfelt question about what different things one part of the content (words, aspects of an image, sections of a video, etc.) might mean—trying to be as critical and creative as you can—just brainstorming, thinking outside the box.

-C): state something that you disagree with about the internet content—something that you think could and should have been approached a different way.

-D): apply the internet content’s ideas to one specific, concrete issue in your psyche, and/or world.

**************

-Second Discussion Board post: watch the video from the optional class meeting the previous Friday, then provide the following responses:

-A): what is one idea expressed during the meeting that provoked some kind of emotional reaction (positive or negative), and why do you think it did so?

-B): what is one idea expressed during the meeting that you realized you didn’t understand, or thought could be interpreted in different ways?

-C): what is one idea expressed during the meeting that you disagreed with at an intellectual (not emotional) level, and why?

-D): what is one idea expressed during the meeting that you were able to apply to your psyche and/or world.
