Intro to Philosophical Inquiry (PHIL-102-OL-17126)

Overview

I just need part C fixed

Part A: Emotion

“What is one thing that you are 120% sure is true, but hypothetically, if it were false, your whole world would come crashing down?”

This question makes me feel anxious, nervous, and reflective, as it puts my fundamental assumptions to the test. It compels me to reexamine the primary assumptions of my beliefs and consider how fragile they may be.

Part B: Interpretive Question

“Something about the child as an extension of the mother’s body…there’s something deeply comforting about knowing that a part of you will continue to be part of the world.”

This quote made me stop and think. If comfort comes through biological lineage, then our influence, love, teaching, and values are passed on to our biological children. It raises the question, “Is the need for a part of a person to continue being part of the world or love for children the driving force behind the desire for biological consistency?”

Part C: Critique

“The individual at their core is the heart, and the heart is fundamentally indifferent it can connect to love or hate but also has the power not to connect at all.”

I adore how considerate and concise this quote is. It may be a mistake and too negative to describe the heart as indifferent to pay attention to our instinctive desires. This is because it may not consider our human instinct toward empathy and connection.

Part D: Application

“Anybody these days, with all the anxiety and mental health problems our country is having, if you’re a leader, you’re also a therapist.”

In my workplace, managers also seem to be unofficial counselors. Supervisors frequently provide informal counselling to employees. This demonstrates the significant need for increased funding for professional mental health services.

THIS COMMENT IS FROM THE PROFFESOR

Good otherwise,. But part C is expressing an emotion, when it's supposed to instead criticize the quote (saying why you disagree with it).
