Overview
This week, for the discussion, you'll get to do a simple but interesting experiment. You should do the experiment and then record your observations here.
For the experiment: you will need three cups. Fill each cup with approximately the same amount of water. One cup should be filled with very hot tap water. One cup should be filled with the coldest tap water you can get (you may want to melt an ice cube or two in it). The third cup should be filled with normal tap water.
To do the experiment, put one finger in the hot water cup and one in the cold water cup for 60 seconds. Then, put both fingers in the normal tap water cup. How does the water feel for each finger? Can you explain what you feel in terms of what you have learned this week about energy transfer and temperature?
