Overview
In your initial posting, describe a real world example for free-fall motion and a real world example for projectile motion. In your examples, explain why free-fall motion or projectile motion analysis is needed to characterize the real world applications.
You will post a real-world application problem to be solved, and then a fellow classmate will reply to your posting to provide a solution to your problem. This means you should not provide a solution to your examples.
- In your application for free-fall motion include information needed to solve the real world example. You should set up your example by providing some known quantities and asking another student to solve for the unknown quantity. An example might be to provide an initial starting height for an object and an initial velocity for an object in free fall, and then ask another student to find time or final velocity.
- In your application for projectile motion include information needed to solve the real world example. You should set up your example by providing some known quantities and asking another student to solve for the unknown quantity. An example might be to provide an initial velocity and angle of elevation for the projectile’s starting motion and then ask another student to find maximum height, horizontal distance or time in flight.
Be sure you are only setting up the information needed for the problem to be solved but do not post the actual solution. Another student will then reply to your post and provide a solution.
In your follow up posts to another student, be sure to clearly show the step by step analysis needed to solve the other student’s problem and be sure to include the appropriate units in your answer.
