Overview
PHY607 Project Summary
Project Topic: Study of meteorological parameters at the assigned location (e.g., Nadi, Fiji).
Objective: To analyze long-term thermodynamic and meteorological data (air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, daily solar radiation, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, and earth temperature) for the assigned station and understand its monthly, seasonal, and annual variations.
Tasks/Steps to Complete:
- Data Preparation:
- Download the assigned station’s data in PDF format.
- Convert the data into Excel for analysis.
- Cover Page:
- Include your name, student ID, and research title.
- Introduction and Background:
- Explain general meteorological parameters and their relevance.
- Focus on the assigned location.
- Discuss past studies in Fiji/Southwest Pacific: aims, methods, conclusions, and drawbacks.
- State the importance of these parameters for the general public.
- Outline your project aims.
- Methodology:
- Describe the study area (include a map with the location marked).
- Explain instruments, measurement height, frequency, duration, and time.
- Specify analysis tools (Excel or other software).
- Include calculations for mean, minimum, maximum (monthly and annual) and graphical analysis.
- Results, Analysis, and Discussion:
- Summarize data in tables and graphs (annual, monthly, seasonal).
- Compare results with past studies.
- Discuss limitations of your study.
