Overview
due on 11:59 pm july 3rd
each lab should have its own seperate document/s for submission
lab 2: In this Lab, you will use the PhET simulation (https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/vector-addition) to add vectors. Two labs are labeled Part I and II (see attached). You will have to perform both individually. To find the resultant of these vectors, you will use the PhET simulation. The vectors can be displacement or force; we will discuss both in the coming modules. There is an explanation of what vectors are and how we add them (see the attached file). Read it carefully and answer the questions in your group.
lab 3: For detailed instructions, please open the attached file. In this lab, you will determine the value of g by measuring height and time as described in the procedure. You then use Excel to plot the data, and the slope calculates g. Make sure to answer all the questions correctly to earn full credit.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Open the following link:
https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/projectile-motion/latest/projectile-motion_en.html
- From the home page of this link, click on lab, from the lab window use the provided controllers to adjust the height (y) and the velocity of the launched ball, the mass, and the shape of the object.
- Adjust the first height to 15 m; the velocity must be zero.
- Release the ball and use the time meter (control the time meter and fix it at the final point of the ball) to measure the time needed for the ball to travel 16 m in the vertical direction.
- Record your data in Table 1.
- Change the height (y) to 15 m, release the ball, and measure the time needed to travel 15 m in the vertical direction.
- Record the new values in Table 1.
- Repeat step 3 to fill Table 1.
- Use Excel software to plot the relationship between ½ t2 and y.
lab 4: In this lab, you are going to use the simulation in https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/pendulum-lab to calculate the value of the acceleration due to gravity.
Make sure to fill in the tables correctly, thereby graphing the data as you did in Lab 1, using Excel, then based on the trend line equation, calculate the value of acceleration due to gravity.
lab 5: Please read the instructions in the attached file and try to draw a conclusion based on the data you collected from the PhET simulation ( https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/masses-and-springs).
Each question must be answered, and each table must be filled.
