Overview
Please choose one of the four prompts below as the basis for your written assignment. You must answer your chosen prompt in a clear, concise, and effective thesis. Your writing should indicate your position on the prompt (whether it’s a yes, no, agree, disagree, it depends, etc.), and it should consist of a persuasive argument in support of your position that draws on reason and evidence. A paper without a thesis, a discernible position, or a reasonable, evidence-based argument will not be able to achieve a grade higher than a B (85%). If you are concerned about this, please attend/watch the writing workshop at the end of Lecture #6.
Prompts:
- What should the relationship between law and politics be? Why?
- Is international law really law? Why or why not?
- Are the laws of war a complete failure? Why or why not?
- What role, if any, does international law play in the advancement of human rights?
