Overview
I'm working on a political science question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
You could get the textual evidence and chapter 11, pp 403-409 from the document I attached below and ONLY USE THAT AS A SOURCE!
1. For each of the four readings we have for this week, unpack two pieces of textual evidence. Look for principles of transcendentalism, which seeks to both transcend old European systems of thought (both liberalism and republicanism) and do so by accessing new modes of transcendence, especially by changing how Americans think about the role of natural law in politics. That is, while right liberalism sees human freedom as constrained by and realized in natural law (unrestrained human reason can know the laws of nature and obedience to these laws, especially economic laws, harmonizes the individual and public good), transcendentalism sees American Nature as a New Testament, revealing possibilities for transcending the old laws of nature. And while right republicanism viewed nature and time as circular, tragic and backwards-looking (the return to first principles forestalls the inevitable decline of virtue) transcendentalism views nature as progressive, optimistic and forwards-looking. It might help to read the "Introduction" to chapter 11, pp 403-409.
