Question(s) of the Week: The last writing skill we are working on in this class is using topic sentences. Topic sentences state the main point of a paragraph (sort of like a mini-thesis statement). Topic sentences usually appear as the first sentence in the paragraph, and every sentence in the paragraph should be connected to the topic sentence (either introducing the topic sentence, explaining the claim of the topic sentence, or preparing to transition to topic sentence of the next paragraph). In response to the following question, give a 2-3 paragraph response, highlighting in bold the topic sentence(s) in your response: What is the relationship between law, reason, and nature according to Cicero? If natural law exists why do laws differ between nations? (Hint: see Book 1 of "On the Laws."
