Overview
The essay should be 7,000 words, double-spaced, and include notes. It should be modeled on review essays found in International Studies Review, International Organization, and World Politics (see some samples I attached). The essay should revolve around a theme across the books and provide a springboard for exploring an empirical puzzle or a theoretical topic.
I will attach the two books and the sample of the Review Essay
My topic is: why is it so difficult to END any War? My books are book1 : Peace at What Price?: Leader Culpability and the Domestic Politics of War Termination by Sarah E. Croco. book2 : War, States, and International OrderAlberico Gentili and the Foundational Myth of the Laws of War by Claire Vergerio.
The prof told me about the second book, and he said "The second book looks like a good one published by a top publisher. The only challenge is that it might not focus on the question of how war might end anymore. If you still choose to review this book (which is good), you might consider modifying your essay theme and try to see how you could tie the two books together. Both books focus on the war in IR."
