- Codes are related to patients' medical diagnoses while billing is a revenue cycle. They are two separate processes however they go hand in hand. The code used will determine if insurances accept or reject the claim. The medical coder needs to ensure all codes are accurate or it could affect their revenue. This could result in delayed reimbursement or none at all. Inaccurate coding could lead to lower reimbursements for the company and subject the company to more audits (1).
Assignment Two: Scenario
As the Chief Operating Officer of a 100-bed hospital, you understand the importance of receiving daily inpatient data as a way of monitoring operations. From the list of reportable inpatient data listed, select three data sets, and explain what they mean, and how these data sets are important to hospital operations.
