Discussion: Role of Local Government
As you have seen, state and local governments play an important role in how our system of government operates. Consider the list of issues below:
Potholes in roads
Trade Deals with a foreign country
A Court Settlement
Income Tax Rates
Sales Tax Rates
Opening a new School
Building a new freeway
- Zoning Laws
- Registering to Vote
- Business Regulations
- Based on your experience, this module, and your own research, try to answer the following:
- For each issue, which level of government (or combination) would be the best place to go?
- Why would your choice be the best way to address the issue at hand?
