“What I would have done differently” Paper Guidelines
The purpose of this paper is to explain what you would have done differently if you had written the policy that you have been working on this entire semester. You have spent a lot of time discussing the actors, history, and process of policy. Now it is time to focus on what you think should be different for the policy.
The policy I choose was the Clean Air Act
-Choose at least 3 differences that you would like to see in your policy. Explain these difference thoroughly.
-Why do you think those differences should exist?
-Why do you think that the policy was written in this specific way?
-Is the policy based on which institutions are controlled by a particular political party?
-What will make this policy change? What will make it persist?
-Discuss the limitations and opportunities of what is politically possible.
-Include relevant information, but limit your scope of information. You have to continually ask yourself, is this a NEED to know piece of information, or just interesting to know.
