Choose a public agency or nonprofit that was involved in the response (at any stage) to the Pulse Nightclub shooting (more info can be found after the chart). Given the large number of people who were injured or killed and the nature of the attack, the Pulse Nightclub shooting required an administrative response that spanned multiple areas of expertise and levels of government. Select at least two (2) of the points in the table and describe how each point relates to and/or is reflected in your chosen organization’s response efforts (i.e., their “case”). This will require outside research beyond the information provided in the case study. In your own words, describe the role your chosen agency played.
Questions to ponder:
- Once Omar Mateen was killed by OPD SWAT officers and survivors were evacuated, what was the role of administrators who were not first responders?
- How does government at the local, state, and federal level respond to a mass-casualty event of this magnitude in the immediate aftermath and beyond?
