General Format: Normal margins 1" top, 1" bottom, 1" right/left, 12 font, double space between lines. No cover page is necessary. As explained and shown in class you are to cite when you paraphrase or briefly quote a passage from a reading. You do not need to follow a specific citation format other than provide the name of the reading in a footnote so that it appears at the bottom of the page where the quote or paraphrase is located. As shown utilizing Microsoft Word, you can add a footnote by accessing the Bar and select References. and then select add Footnote when you have completed writing your paraphrase or quote.
As well you do not need to reference the professor if you are communicating an idea brought out in lecture. However, you must use both the readings and lecture.
Upload your completed assignment for evaluation to E-Campus and bring a hard copy to class so that we can discuss your conclusions.
Design your responses in the form of an organized, grammatically correct, proof-read essay. Essays have an introductory paragraph to introduce the reader to the purpose of the essay (the main idea(s) you intend to argue), separate paragraphs (evidence) that support your introduction, and a concluding paragraph that sums up your point(s) of contention (what you are asking the reader to believe).
In this assignment you will blend the course lectures and the readingsfrom the sessions on either the CivilWar or Reconstruction. In your essay you should discuss specific passages and explain how they support or not the premise of your argument.
**Reminder - Do not use first person
- Do not use contractions
