Overview
For the writing assignment, students will write a 7-9-page research paper on a topic related to criminal procedure (distinct from criminal law). Your paper should provide an in-depth analysis and critique of your chosen issue, tracing its historical development and assessing its impact on American politics, law, and individual rights. You are encouraged to explore contemporary issues within criminal procedure, such as the implications of digital surveillance and privacy rights, the evolution of bail reform, or the procedural aspects of police body cameras.
Your paper should be based on a minimum of five scholarly sources in addition to the textbook. Your paper must adhere to MLA format, including a title page, introduction, well-organized paragraphs with subheadings, conclusion, and a reference page. The work must be double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and use Times New Roman 12-point font. Students should clearly present and critique both the historical context and the modern-day significance of their topic, demonstrating how it affects current practices and policies within the criminal procedure/legal system. further instructions are in the attachment
