part 1. I chose to focus on China this term because I wanted to learn about another economic power alongside my education in U.S. politics. Additionally, I was drawn to learning about China because of ongoing controversy in the global media about its history of government censorship and loose labor regulations. It would be quite interesting to analyze the government structure and issue with one of the US’s largest trade partners and largest competitors.
Assignmnet Instructions:
The purpose of this assignment is to apply the concepts addressed in the text to the country you chose to study this term. Remember that you must choose a state from the following list: Country Choices. Click here for a list of helpful sources and references to start your research.
Please download and complete Evidence Log #1. (I shared below)
The country you choose for Evidence Log #1 will be the country you focus on for most of the assignments this term. Download the Evidence Log above, save it to your computer, complete it, and then upload it to Canvas. Note that only 'doc' and 'pdf' files will be accepted, so please do not try to upload a Pages file (or anything else) as I cannot open or read them, which also means I can't grade them and you won't be able to get credit.
Requirements:
- The evidence column should include properly cited references to the textbook.
- The application column should include information about your chosen country and include properly cited references to independently researched sources.
- Please include a Works Cited notation at the end of your Evidence Log (DO NOT upload a separate Works Cited document).
- Evidence logs that do not demonstrate the use of the textbook (in the Definitions/Explanations section) AND at least one independently researched source (in the Application section) will receive a score no higher than a D.
- Encyclopedias like Wikipedia or Encyclopedia Britannica are not allowed. Points will be deducted for their use. The goal here is to engage in college-level research, which for some of you may mean giving up more basic resources you've relied on in the past.
