Comparative Politics: Political Violence

Overview

This week we are discussing the topic of political violence, and the assigned readings covered a wide variety of ongoing conflicts. Pick ONE contemporary conflict and discuss the following:

1. Why you think this conflict is relevant for us (specifically for policymakers and political scientists)
2. Sketch out 2 possible outcomes for the conflict by Dec 2025
   
3. Sketch out actions that 2 relevant actors might take to shape the conflict outcomes (you can pick the UN, NATO, African Union, state governments, local actors involved in the armed conflict, terrorist groups, private military security companies, NGOs, etc.
4. Anything else you want to add regarding the conflict you chose to highlight (questions, concerns, connections to other course topics, etc.)
6. REMINDER To receive FULL CREDIT for each weekly discussion board, students must do the following:
7. • Read posts by other students
   • Post 1 substantial response to the question (250-350 words)
   • Post 2 substantial responses to other students (minimum of 150 words per response)
   • Cite or refer to appropriate sources (authors/articles, etc.) to support points
   • Cite any Al tools used
   NOTE: If no one in your group has posted yet and you will be offline/unavailable due to work/travel, you may post a SECOND substantial comment INSTEAD of responding to another student. In this case, full credit will be awarded IF your second post EITHER 1) argues the opposite position of your first post OR 2) highlights a different issue than your first post.View Discussion
