B. Submission Requirements:

  • Due Date: 2359ET on Thursday of the week assigned (unless otherwise directed by your professor).
  • Length: 400-900 words.
  • Format: MS Word (.doc or docx), 12pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, student first and last name on each page (header or footer).
  • File Name: Last name, First name_FA#

There is no expectation that students consult resources beyond course materials; if you choose to do so, they must be fully cited in footnotes using the Chicago Manual of Style.

C. Joint Capabilities:

“There is no such thing as separate land, sea, and air war.” (Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1945)

Prompt: Briefly describe one key capability each of the following services brings to a joint operation in functional terms: U.S. Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Special Operations Force. Explain one important consideration for employing each of the capabilities you chose.

Several services possess similar capabilities. What are some important distinctions between Army, Marine, and Special Operations Forces ground capabilities? What are some important differences between Navy/Marine and Air Force air capabilities?
