I WILL PROVIDE ALL SOURCES. Please write an essay answering following question. Essays should be 2000 words (or approximately 8 pages in length), well-written, concise, and backed with concrete examples. You must provide references/citations for all quotes or substantive information, and please do not use any sources beyond the assigned reading, films, and the lectures.
Question: Demands for desegregation, racial equality, and/or the franchise differ from fighting for economic justice or decolonization. Subjugated groups all have different capacities, stakes, and relationships to power. In light of such differences—and potential antagonisms—please compare and contrast the Civil Rights movement with the Palestinian freedom movement. What is the function of nonviolence in these respective movements? How is the line between violence and nonviolence blurred? Most importantly, how have each of these movements employed BOTH nonviolence and violence in their struggles for freedom? How has violence and nonviolence in these movements been both complimentary and at odds with one another?
Compare and contrast the Civil Rights Movement and the Palestinian freedom movement. Explain the role of nonviolence in each, how the line between violence and nonviolence is blurred, and how both movements have used violence and nonviolence in their struggles.
